Revival Speaker: Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves

The upcom­ing revival which will take place March 18th-21st. It is excit­ing to have the Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves com­ing to be our guest evangelist/preacher. Tim holds a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence Degree in Busi­ness Man­age­ment from UNC Wilm­ing­ton, a Mas­ters of Divin­i­ty Degree from Duke Uni­ver­si­ty, and a Doc­tor of Min­istry Degree from Hood The­o­log­i­cal Sem­i­nary. He is the Evan­ge­lism Resource Per­son for the Wilm­ing­ton Dis­trict and for­mer­ly served as Chair­per­son for the NC Con­fer­ence Com­mis­sion on Evan­ge­lism for two years. Tim received the 2003 Har­ry Den­man Award for Evan­ge­lism for the North Car­oli­na Con­fer­ence. Over the last sev­er­al years he has preached and held revivals, youth events, and work­shops across North Car­oli­na with past engage­ments in Vir­ginia, South Car­oli­na, Ken­tucky, Arkansas, and Flori­da. He is mar­ried to Tina and has two daugh­ters, Ale­na and Trinity.

Well, it sounds like he is well qual­i­fied doesn’t it? But Tim is not just well edu­cat­ed; he has a prac­ti­cal knowl­edge of what it takes to be effec­tive in the local church. Tim is serv­ing his fif­teenth year at the three church­es of The Bladen Charge where he led those church­es back from the edge of clos­ing to be vibrant and grow­ing church­es that are mak­ing a dif­fer­ence in their com­mu­ni­ties. Folks, this man can preach. Tim is one of the most Spir­it-filled peo­ple I know and one of the most gift­ed preach­ers I have ever heard. Sun­day night, Tim’s praise band will be com­ing with him and let me tell you, they can rock the house. Oh don’t wor­ry, they aren’t that loud, but they are that good. You will thor­ough­ly enjoy your­self. The oth­er nights we have spe­cial music from var­i­ous groups and I know Tim will prob­a­bly lead us in some music every night before he preach­es as well. (He can real­ly play a key­board.) I know you will not want to miss even one night of the services.

It is very appro­pri­ate that revival is tak­ing place dur­ing the sea­son of Lent, because the goal of repen­tance is revival of the soul and renew­al of our rela­tion­ship with Christ. Tim is not com­ing just to enter­tain us; he is com­ing to lead us in revival and friends in order for real revival to take place we will have to desire it, seek it and pray for it. I real­ly expect great things to hap­pen dur­ing this revival, so I invite you to attend, par­tic­i­pate, invite oth­ers to come and above all I invite you to pray for Tim, pray for our church and pray for your­selves as we draw close to the heart of God.
