The upcoming revival which will take place March 18th-21st. It is exciting to have the Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves coming to be our guest evangelist/preacher. Tim holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from UNC Wilmington, a Masters of Divinity Degree from Duke University, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Hood Theological Seminary. He is the Evangelism Resource Person for the Wilmington District and formerly served as Chairperson for the NC Conference Commission on Evangelism for two years. Tim received the 2003 Harry Denman Award for Evangelism for the North Carolina Conference. Over the last several years he has preached and held revivals, youth events, and workshops across North Carolina with past engagements in Virginia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Florida. He is married to Tina and has two daughters, Alena and Trinity.
Well, it sounds like he is well qualified doesn’t it? But Tim is not just well educated; he has a practical knowledge of what it takes to be effective in the local church. Tim is serving his fifteenth year at the three churches of The Bladen Charge where he led those churches back from the edge of closing to be vibrant and growing churches that are making a difference in their communities. Folks, this man can preach. Tim is one of the most Spirit-filled people I know and one of the most gifted preachers I have ever heard. Sunday night, Tim’s praise band will be coming with him and let me tell you, they can rock the house. Oh don’t worry, they aren’t that loud, but they are that good. You will thoroughly enjoy yourself. The other nights we have special music from various groups and I know Tim will probably lead us in some music every night before he preaches as well. (He can really play a keyboard.) I know you will not want to miss even one night of the services.
It is very appropriate that revival is taking place during the season of Lent, because the goal of repentance is revival of the soul and renewal of our relationship with Christ. Tim is not coming just to entertain us; he is coming to lead us in revival and friends in order for real revival to take place we will have to desire it, seek it and pray for it. I really expect great things to happen during this revival, so I invite you to attend, participate, invite others to come and above all I invite you to pray for Tim, pray for our church and pray for yourselves as we draw close to the heart of God.
